Because each product is made to your exact measurements, cancellations cannot be made. In case of sending a wrong order, contact us immediately.

Curtain and Blinds FAQs
Ordering
Can I order fabric samples before placing my order?
Yes — we always recommend ordering a fabric sample before confirming your made-to-measure curtains or blinds. Because every item is custom-made to your measurements, we cannot accept returns, so sampling ensures you’re completely happy with your chosen colour, texture, and finish.
If you’re considering multiple blind or curtain types, we recommend ordering samples for each to get an accurate feel for every option.
You can order any sample online. You can order up to five (5) samples free of charge, which we endeavour to deliver within 3 working days.
Can I amend my order after it’s been processed?
Because all Greenlane Furnishings blinds and curtains are made-to-order, changes cannot be made. Please contact our Customer Service Team help@greenlanefurnishings.co.uk. Always double-check your measurements and details before checkout to avoid delays or fees.

I need measuring advice on curtains and blinds — can you help?

Will there be joins in my curtain or blind?
Large widths may require fabric joins. Curtains and Roman blinds wider than 1300mm will include discreet seams, carefully pattern-matched for a professional finish.
Roller, Fifty50™ and Vertical blinds will not come with joints. They are always made of single panel of fabric.
Installation
Do you offer a fitting service?
Greenlane Furnishings offers a local installation service. If not, don’t worry — our detailed installation guides make self-fitting easy. We also include all standard fittings with your order.
Can I fit curtains and blinds myself?
Yes. Our products are designed for easy installation with basic DIY experience. Before starting, please check the relevant fitting guide for your product:

What are your sustainability credentials?
At Greenlane Furnishings, we are committed to responsible design and sustainable production. Every item is made to order, reducing waste and overproduction.
What fabrics are used in your products?
We use a wide range of high-quality textiles — including cotton, linen, velvet, chenille, and polyester blends — chosen for both beauty and performance. Full fabric composition details can be found on each product page.
Curtains
What are differences between heading styles?
We offer four heading styles, each creating a different look, level of fullness, and overall finish:
- Pencil Pleat (3 or 6 inch)
- Available with 3-inch or 6-inch tape.
- Creates small, neat folds for a simple, classic drape.
- 200% fullness for a rich, gathered appearance.
- Pinch Pleat (Double or Triple)
- Fabric is stitched into groups of two or three pleats, spaced around 10cm apart.
- Double Pinch Pleat: 200% fullness.
- Triple Pinch Pleat: 260% fullness.
- Offers a structured, elegant, and traditional finish.
- Eyelet
- Features metal rings that slide directly onto a curtain pole.
- Available with 40mm or 50mm eyelets, spaced 10–12 cm apart.
- Recommended pole sizes: up to 28mm for 40mm eyelets and up to 38mm for 50mm eyelets.
- Comes with 150% fullness for a smooth, modern wave effect.
- Wave
- Creates a soft, continuous wave from top to bottom.
- Wave depth is approximately 110mm, giving a contemporary, flowing look.
What are the differences between linings?
Each lining offers different benefits depending on the look and performance you want:
- Polycotton Lining – A warm ivory lining with a durable, elegant finish.
- Satin Lining – Soft, lightweight, and our most refined dim-out option.
- Blackout Lining – A polyester–cotton blend that improves drape and blocks light passing through the fabric.
Note: Sheer fabrics cannot be lined, as this would affect their natural transparency.
Can Curtains be motorised?
Not at the moment. Currently, our made-to-measure curtains are manually operated only.
How do I clean and maintain Curtians?
All made-to-measure curtains should be professionally dry cleaned to maintain their colour, texture, and finish. Every curtain includes a care label with cleaning instructions specific to its fabric.
For everyday maintenance:
- Use a vacuum cleaner with an upholstery brush to gently remove dust.
To dress your curtains after installation:
Remove creases
- Lightly steam from top to bottom using a handheld steamer, or use an iron on a gentle steam setting.
- Avoid over-steaming or allowing the fabric to become damp.
- Do not touch the face fabric directly.
Shape the pleats
- Position the curtains neatly.
- Smooth and space each pleat evenly so the fabric falls naturally.
Set the pleats
- Tie the curtains loosely using fabric strips or tiebacks.
- Leave them tied for at least 48 hours to help the pleats set beautifully.
This process ensures your curtains hang perfectly and keep their refined drape over time.
Roman Blinds
What are the differences between linings?
Each lining provides different benefits, allowing you to tailor your blind to your space and light needs. We offer four types:
- Polycotton Lining – A warm ivory lining that’s durable, smooth, and elegant.
- Satin Lining – Soft, lightweight, and our most refined dim-out option.
- Blackout Lining – A polyester–cotton blend that improves structure and blocks light passing through the fabric.
- Bonded Lining – A warm ivory lining with an added insulating layer for enhanced thermal performance.
Note: Sheer fabrics cannot be lined, as this would affect their transparent look.
What heading style Roman blinds come with?
Roman blinds come with two heading options:
- Classic Headrail, where the mechanism is covered with matching fabric.
- Cassette Headrail, which creates a clean, modern finish by covering the top of the blind.

Can Roman blinds be motorised?
Yes. Our Roman blinds can be motorised. We offer a selection of motors suited to your blind, with control options including a chain, remote, voice control, or an app.
How do I clean and maintain Roman blinds?
All made-to-measure Roman blinds should be professionally dry cleaned to preserve their colour, texture, and overall quality. Each blind includes a care label attached to the lining.
For regular upkeep:
- Use a vacuum cleaner with an upholstery brush to gently remove dust.
- After installation, you may lightly dress the blind using a handheld steamer. Lower the blind fully, steam from top to bottom, and avoid over-steaming or letting the fabric get damp.
- Do not touch the face fabric directly while steaming.
- Allow the blind to hang freely for several hours so the folds can settle naturally.
Roller Blinds
What are Roller blinds made from?
Most of our Roller blinds are made from modern polyester, which is durable, easy to clean, and has a natural fabric feel. Some of our premium ranges also use recycled polyester for an eco-friendly option.
What heading style Roller blinds come with?
Roller blinds come with two heading options:
- Classic Heading, where the mechanism is visible.
- Cassette Heading, which neatly hides the mechanism for a sleek, modern finish.

Are motorised Roller blinds available?
Yes. Our Roman blinds can be motorised. We offer a selection of motors suited to your blind, with control options including a chain, remote, voice control, or an app.
How do I clean and maintain Roller blinds?
All made-to-measure Roman blinds should be professionally dry cleaned to protect the colour, texture and quality of both the fabric and the lining. Each blind includes a care label on the lining.
For day-to-day maintenance:
- Use a vacuum with an upholstery brush to remove dust gently.
- After installation, you may lightly dress the blind with a handheld steamer. Fully lower the blind, steam from top to bottom, and avoid over-steaming or letting the fabric become damp.
- Do not touch the face fabric directly while steaming.
- Allow the blind to hang freely for several hours so the folds can settle naturally.
Fifty50™ Blinds
What are Fifty50™ blinds, and how do they differ from other blinds?
Fifty50™ blinds feature alternating sheer and solid fabric stripes, giving you flexible light control. Unlike regular blinds, they allow you to switch between a sheer appearance for soft natural light or a dim-out effect for increased privacy and reduced glare.
What heading style Fifty50™ blinds come with?
Fifty50™ blinds are available with two heading styles:
- Classic Heading – the mechanism is exposed for a simple, traditional look.
- Cassette Heading – a sleek aluminum cassette that hides the mechanism for a cleaner, modern finish.

Can I have a fully blackout Fifty50™ blind?
No. Fifty50™ blinds are designed as dim-out, not full blackout. Because of the spacing between the fabric layers and light gaps at the edges, a small amount of light can still enter the room. They significantly reduce light but are not 100% blackout.
Can Fifty50™ blinds be motorised?
Yes. We offer motorised Fifty50™ blinds with a cassette headrail. Depending on your setup, you can operate them using a pull chain, remote control, voice control, or a dedicated app
How do I clean and maintain Fifty50™ blinds?
Fifty50™ blinds are designed for durability and easy maintenance. To keep them looking fresh:
- Wipe gently with a dry, lint-free cloth.
- Avoid water or cleaning products, as these may damage the fabric.
- No dressing is needed after installation—simply adjust the blind layers to maintain a neat appearance.
Vertical Blinds
Can I combine multiple vertical blinds?
Yes. If you want to combine two blinds, please specify this when ordering. We can align them so they appear as one continuous blind.
Note: Each blind will still have its own control, and if you choose a split-stack configuration, both blinds will stack on the same chosen side.
What heading style Vertical blinds come with?
Vertical blinds are available with either:
- Track Heading – a simple and minimal option.
- Cassette Heading – a smart, modern aluminium cassette that hides the track for a neater finish.

How wide are the louvers?
Our Vertical blinds use 89mm louvers. They are designed to overlap slightly to ensure full window coverage when closed.
Are vertical blinds suitable for large windows or sliding doors?
Yes. Vertical blinds are ideal for wide windows, French doors, and sliding doors. They can cover areas up to 2.8m wide and 5m high.
You can also choose from four stacking options to suit the layout of your room or door system.
Can vertical blinds be motorised?
Not yet. At this time, all our Vertical blinds are manually operated.
How do I clean and maintain Vertical blinds?
Vertical blinds are designed for easy upkeep. To keep them looking their best:
- Wipe gently with a dry, lint-free cloth.
- Avoid water or cleaning products, as these may damage the fabric.
- No dressing is needed after installation—simply adjust the louvers as required.
Venetian Blinds
What are Venetian blinds made of?
Our Venetian blinds are available in three material options:
- Faux Wood – A durable, affordable, and sustainable alternative to real wood.
- Real Wood – Made from 100% timber, offering natural warmth and elegance.
- Aluminium – Lightweight and durable, allowing us to create blinds with thin, flexible slats
What heading style Venetian blinds come with?
Venetian blinds come with a single heading style. The slats are attached to a matching valance, which can be mounted directly onto the wall or window frame for a neat finish.
What slat widths are available?
We offer a range of slat widths depending on the material:
- Wood and Faux Wood: typically 35 mm or 50 mm
- Aluminium: 25 mm slats for a slimmer, modern look
How are the slats connected?
You can choose between two connection styles:
- Standard Cord: Durable polyester strings that support and tilt the slats.
- Decorative Tape: A 25 mm fabric tape available in 10 colours, replacing the cords for a softer, more premium look.
Can vertical blinds be motorised?
No. Our Venetian blinds are currently only available with manual operation.
How do I clean and maintain Venetian blinds?
Venetian blinds are easy to maintain. To keep them looking their best:
- Use a dry, lint-free cloth or duster to clean the slats.
- For aluminium blinds, you may also use a slightly damp cloth if necessary.
- Avoid strong cleaning products, as they may damage the finish.
- No dressing is required after installation; simply adjust the slats as needed.

Can I use rugs outdoors?

Can I use a rug with underfloor heating?
Yes, most rugs are suitable with underfloor heating. Opt for a low-pile rug and a breathable backing to allow heat to circulate effectively.
Are washable rugs worth it?
